Symptom Either the StorageExpress system is new and first being installed, or the TokenExpress adapter in question is being installed for the first time. The StorageExpress system will not load TPRO.LAN or bind any protocols to the TokenExpress Pro adapter. When the command 'DISPLAY SERVERS' is typed at the System Console Prompt, only the StorageExpress system is displayed. When the command 'CONFIG' is typed at the System Console Prompt, information about the frame type and network address are not displayed properly. Only the Internal IPX address for the StorageExpress system is displayed. However, if LANLOAD.BAT and NETX are executed at the DOS prompt, the TokenExpress Pro adapter is able to insert into the ring and connect to a local server.
Description The StorageExpress systemXL -2 systems have a Intel Plug-n-Play system board. The TokenExpress Pro adapter is also Plug-n-Play by default. When the StorageExpress system is powered on, the Plug-n-Play technology sets the adapter to port 210. The only port address the StorageExpress system will accept for the adapter in NetWare* mode is port 300. At the DOS prompt, it does not matter what port address the TokenExpress Pro adapter is set to, therefore the adapter is able to connect to the LAN.
Solution Wait until the StorageExpress system has has finished booting, and the LCD panel says 'StorageExpress system ready'. Toggle to the System Console (colon) Prompt and type EPDOWN and then [Enter] in order to get to a DOS Prompt. At the DOS prompt, change directories to the C:\TEST directory. In the C:\TEST directory type TOKNSET2 and press [Enter]. Inside the TokenExpress PRO Configuration and Diagnostics Utility, change the adapter settings so that Plug-n-Play is disabled and the adapter's port address is set to begin at 300h. Save the configuration and allow the utility to restart the StorageExpress system.
When the StorageExpress system reboots, it will load TPRO.LAN and bind IPX properly in NetWare* Mode. When the command 'DISPLAY SERVERS' is typed at the System Console Prompt, more servers are displayed. When the command 'CONFIG' is typed at the System Console Prompt, information about the frame type and network address display properly.
