In some rare occasions it may be necessary to stop the Intel® Services Manager (ismagent.exe) to fix an issue with the Intel AppUp™ client.
The Intel Services Manager is a program that runs in the background to ensure the apps you have downloaded are properly entitled, and it also checks to see if there is a newer version of your apps and the Intel AppUp software are available.
The easiest way to restart the Intel Services Manager is log out of your Windows* session (or reboot), then log back in. This will stop the Intel Services Manager process. The next time you launch Intel AppUpSM center or after a system reboot Intel Service Manager will automatically start.
If you would like to manually stop the Intel Services Manager, follow these steps:
- Close the Intel AppUp™ client
- Open Task Manager
- Right Click on the Task Bar.
- From the menu select Task Manager.
- Select "ismagent.exe".

Click on End Process button in the bottom right.
The next time you re-boot, launch Intel AppUp™, or one of the apps Intel® services Manager will automatically start.
