Description The PC Theft Defense* (PCTD) Service software currently only supports the English (US) language format. There have been reports of issues where customers are not able to synchronize their system after they have changed the system time and language format.
Problem/Question Unable to synchronize PCTD systems after a change was made to the system time and language formats.
Customer environment
- PCTD software
- Best Buy* Blue Label* laptops (Sony* or Toshiba*)
Troubleshooting Steps First change the language on the system. To achieve this please follow these steps:
- Go Start Menu
- Enter Control Panel in search box.
- Click on Clock, Language, and Region in control panel.

- Click change the date, time or number format. It is just below Region and Language. This will open Region and Language window.
- In Region and Language window Select Format to English(United States) in Format Dropdown list.

- Click on Apply and Ok.
Once we change the language format, delete the CertificateDateTime.xml file which is available under C:\ProgramFiles\PCTheftDefense\CertificateDateTime.xml.

Once done with the above steps restart the laptop.
Immediately it should start the rendezvous or synchronization.
If it is not started, just try with Synchronize Settings with Server in PCTD tray Icon:
Cause The PCTD software currently only supports the English (US) language format the cause of this problem is when the customer changes the operating system's time and language formats.
