Intel® Xeon® Processor-based Systems Require Microsoft* DirectX* 8.0 or Higher
Be sure that the Microsoft* DirectX* 8.0 (or higher) multimedia system foundation is used when installing a Microsoft operating system on Intel Xeon processor-based systems. Intel Xeon processor-based systems with previous versions of Microsoft* DirectX* may experience sub-optimal performance.
Microsoft* DirectX* 8 has been optimized to support Streaming SIMD Extension 2 instructions, new to Pentium® 4 processor and Intel Xeon processor NetBurst™ micro-architecture.

The PC will function using a Microsoft* DirectX* version prior to version 8.0, but the Streaming SIMD Extension 2 instructions will be disabled, and cannot be used by software.
