Intel® Processor Identification Utility
Power Profile Settings for Accurate Testing

Power profile settings, in the BIOS and in the operating system, can impact testing results when running the Intel® Processor Identification Utility. Results can be marginally higher or lower than the expected frequency.

Some mobile computer systems have a maximum battery saving feature, or silent mode capability. When this feature is used, it can cause the Intel Processor Identification Utility to erroneously report that the system bus is overclocked.

If the reported frequency differs from what was expected, change the power management mode to always on, plug in the system power cord, and reboot the system before retesting. For BIOS setting recommendations and instructions, please consult the documentation provided by the system manufacturer.
