Power Profile settings, both in the BIOS and within the operating system, can result in the Intel® Processor Identification Utility reporting a marginally higher or lower reported frequency than the expected frequency.
Some mobile computer systems contain a maximum battery saving feature, or "silent mode" capability, which when used, may cause the Processor Identification Utility to erroneously report that the System Bus is overclocked.
If the reported frequency differs from what was expected, set the Windows* system power management mode to a high performance mode, plug in the system power cord, and reboot the system before retesting. The recommended setting for testing purposes is to set the power management mode to "Always On."
For BIOS setting recommendations and instructions, please consult the documentation provided by the system manufacturer.
