What is the difference between Intel® HD Graphics, Intel® HD Graphics 2000, and Intel® HD Graphics 3000?
Intel® HD Graphics is the initial implementation of the graphics that was introduced with the Intel® Core™ i5-6xx Processor Series and the Intel® Core™ i3-5xx Processor Series. Intel HD® Graphics 2000 and Intel® HD Graphics 3000 is the second generation of processor graphics and was introduced with the Intel® Core™ i7-2xxx Processor series, Intel® Core™ i5-2xxx Processor Series, and Intel® Core™ i3-2xxx Processor Series and is a much higher performing version than the initial implementation.

What is the difference between Intel® HD Graphics 2000 and Intel® HD Graphics 3000?
The primary difference between Intel® HD Graphics 2000 and Intel® HD Graphics 3000 is the number of execution units contained in the processor. Intel HD Graphics 2000 contains six execution units, and Intel HD Graphics 3000 contains twelve execution units. This means that Intel HD Graphics 3000 is better suited for more graphics intensive applications, such as those that use 3D.

What are Intel® HD Graphics 2500 and Intel® HD Graphics 4000?
Intel® HD Graphics 2500 and Intel® HD graphics 4000 are the 3rd generation of Intel® Core™ processor graphics. Intel® HD Graphics 2500 is the successor to Intel HD Graphics 2000 and is better performing due to more efficient graphics execution units (6). Intel® HD graphics 4000 is the successor to Intel HD Graphics 3000 and features much better performance due to the increased number of graphics execution units (16). 4th Generation Intel® Core™ Processors use a variety of processor graphics. The most capable versions are the Intel® Iris™ 5200 and Intel® Iris™ 5100, followed by Intel® HD Graphics 5000 / 4600 / 4400 / 4200. In terms of performance, a higher number designation indicates a better version of processor graphics.

What is Dynamic Acceleration?
This is a feature that is available with the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Generation Intel® Core™ Processors. It works similar to Intel® Turbo Boost 2.0 in that the processor will dynamically boost the graphics frequency for graphically intensive applications, provided the processor is operating under power, thermal, and current specifications.

Where can I get graphics drivers for the processors that feature Intel® HD Graphics?
There are several options in regard to downloading graphics drivers. The first two options involve the Intel® Driver Update Utility. When you run this utility, it informs you if your system has or does not have the current Intel graphics driver.

For graphics drivers, use the Intel® Graphics Driver Update Utility. For all Intel drivers use the Intel® Driver Update Utility. The global version of Intel Driver Update Utility not only incorporates an analysis of graphics drivers, but includes an analysis on other drivers such as audio and network drivers that come with the Intel® Desktop Boards.
