Intel® Turbo Boost Technology Monitor overview

Intel® Turbo Boost Technology Monitor is a Windows 7* and Windows 8* application designed to display processor frequency activity and highlight energy saver mode. The Intel® Turbo Boost Technology Monitor only runs on PCs with Intel® Turbo Boost Technology capable processors.

Intel® Turbo Boost Technology is a processor technology and is operating system agnostic. See more on Intel Turbo Boost Technology.

Intel Turbo Boost Technology Monitor 2.0 is not available for download, as the latest version is backward compatible with previous generation Intel Turbo Boost Technology capable processors.

  • Windows Vista* no longer supported
    (detects and does not install on Vista-based PCs)

Installation

  1. Copy the file Setup.exe to your system.
  2. Double-click Setup.exe, and accept the UAC prompt if it displays.
  3. Follow the installer prompt instructions to complete the installation.

Processor frequency

  • Two-color vertical bar movement denotes changes in processor frequency.
  • Light blue area denotes Intel® Turbo Boost Technology frequency range.
  • Dark blue area denotes CPU operating at less than base frequency (Enhanced Intel SpeedStep® Technology).
  • Frequency text displayed only for turbo range (greater than base frequency).

Installer/Upgrade installer

  • Detects processor and operating system (installs only on supported configurations).
  • Automatically uninstalls older version 2.0 and installs the new version, making sure one UI instance is displayed.

Uninstall

  • To uninstall Intel Turbo Boost Technology Monitor, go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features, select Uninstall a program, and then select Intel Turbo Boost Technology Monitor and uninstall it.

How to stop Intel Turbo Boost Technology Monitor

  • To stop Intel Turbo Boost Technology Monitor, just close the Intel Turbo Boost Technology Monitor window or right click Intel Turbo Boost Technology Monitor window and uncheck "Run at Startup", Intel Turbo Boost Technology Monitor will not start when next boot up.

How to troubleshoot Intel Turbo Boost Technology Monitor

  • Check if you changed the processor, Intel Turbo Boost Technology Monitor only works on Intel Turbo Boost Technology enabled processor, specifically those with Intel® Core™ i7 or Intel® Core™ i5 brands.
  • Check if you changed BIOS settings for Intel Turbo Boost Technology.
  • Uninstall Intel Turbo Boost Technology Monitor and reinstall the utility.
  • Consult your computer vendor if there are specific settings needed for running Intel Turbo Boost Technology Monitor in your system.
