What is the recommended internal temperature of a chassis?

Symptom(s):
What is the recommended internal temperature of a chassis?

Solution:

When using Intel desktop processors based on 65nm and 90nm technology it is recommended that the internal temperature of the chassis remain below 40 degrees Celsius. Contact your chassis manufacturer to determine which airflow pattern is used in their design. Most chassis manufacturers will provide specifications regarding chassis airflow improvements for ducting, thermally sensitive fan speed control circuitry, temperature sensors, airflow direction, and fan size/speed.

The fan heatsink that ships with the boxed Intel® Celeron® D, Intel Celeron® Processor 4xx Series, Intel® Pentium® 4, Intel® Pentium® 4 processor Extreme Edition, Intel® Pentium® dual-core processor E2100 series, and Intel® Core™2 Duo desktop processors in the 775-land package requires that the fan inlet temperature must be kept at 38° degrees Celsius or lower.

To meet the thermal specification requirements of the Intel Pentium D, Intel® Core™2 Extreme, and the lntel® Core™2 Quad processors, use a chassis that has been designed to maintain an internal ambient temperature of 39° Celsius or lower.

A Thermally Advantaged Chassis that meets the chassis air guidelines version 1.1 is the best method to meet this requirement. For more information, see Thermally Advantaged Chassis.

This applies to:
Intel® Core™2 Duo Desktop Processor
Intel® Pentium® 4 Processors
