Mobile Intel® Pentium® 4 Processors - M
Voltage Requirements

Mobile Intel® Pentium® 4 Processors are specified to operate at the voltages provided in the Tables below. Mobile Intel Pentium 4 Processors with Enhanced Intel SpeedStep® technology have two voltages, one for each performance mode. Future Mobile Intel Pentium 4 Processors may have other voltage requirements. It is important to verify that the laptop explicitly supports the specific processor (by type, stepping and speed).

Proper voltage must be supplied for reliable operation. Most laptops now use Voltage ID (VID) programmable voltage regulators to allow the processor to program the correct voltage during power-on. If your laptop does not use a VID programmable voltage regulator, it should come with jumpers or switches to set the correct voltage. Consult your laptop manual for instructions on setting the proper voltage. Since the operating voltage of Mobile Intel Pentium 4 Processors  may be changed as the processor goes through stepping changes, VID-programmable voltage regulators are the preferred solution.
