Upgrade to TrueSync Desktop*, as follows. Here are the guidelines for backing up your data in TrueSync Information Manager and installing TrueSync Desktop using your current data:

    • Click on the + next to Program Files
    • Click on the + next to Starfish
    • Click on the + next to REX TrueSync
    • Double-click on UserData folder.
    • Copy the information in the User Data folder
    • Create a folder on your desktop called TSBACK and copy the information from UserData to that new folder.

  2. Remove TIM:

    1. Remove the software:
      • Click on Start button
      • Click on Settings
      • Click on Control Panel
      • Click on Add/Remove Programs
      • Remove any TrueSync software installed

    2. Remove the TrueSync data:

      • Click on Start
      • Click on Programs
      • Click on Windows Explorer
      • Click on Program Files
      • Find the Starfish folder and delete it

    3. Remove the TrueSync registry key:

WARNING: The following procedure changes the system registry. Incorrect changes to the registry can result in loss of data or system operation.  We strongly recommend making a copy of your registry before proceeding. Please consult your Microsoft documentation for detailed instructions for creating a registry backup.

      • Click on Start
      • Click on Run
      • Type REGEDIT
      • Click on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
      • Click on Software
      • Under Software, delete the Starfish key (and all subfolders)

    4. Reboot the machine. TIM is now successfully uninstalled.

  3. Install TrueSync Desktop and restore data:

    1. Install TrueSync Desktop from the CD rom or from our site. We recommend that you use the latest version. If the version on your CD is 2.0a, then please install the version on our web site (2.0b). Before you download the file, you will ask you for an ISBN number. You will find this number on the back of the Rex card (ie. 1-56712-***-X). The dashes are necessary and the X is capital.

** IMPORTANT: When the TrueSync Desktop installation reaches the part that asks you to "View the Read Me" and to "Start TrueSync Desktop", UN-check both then click Finish.
    2. Restore the original data:
      Click on Start

      • Click on Programs
      • Click on Windows Explorer
      • Click on the + next to Program Files
      • Click on the + next to Starfish
      • Click on the + next toTrueSync Desktop
      • Double-click on UserData folder.
      • Copy the information that you backed up to the TSBACK folder in Step 1 to the UserData folder. ** If you receive any prompts to replace the existing files, click YES to replace the existing files.

    3. Continue with the setup of TrueSync Desktop

      • Click on Start
      • Click on TrueSync Desktop
      • Complete the setup as prompted.
      • TrueSync Desktop should now be successfully installed, and your original data should now be present in the new software. If you do not see your original data, go to File, then select Open Cardfile/Calendar/Memo File (for each corresponding section) then select the appropriate file.
