COM Port Cannot Be Found when Using the REX USB Cradle and REX 6000

Please follow the steps below for the appropriate operating system solve your USB Cradle No Com port issue.

Before proceeding, make sure you are using the latest software for the REX6000, which can be downloaded at our Support web site.

For Windows* 98 and Me

  1. Insert the REX 6000 in the USB Cradle, open the Control Panel (Start Button-Settings-Control Panel), and then double-click the System icon.

  2. Select the Device Manager tab, locate Ports, and then expand it by clicking the plus (+) sign next to Ports.

  3. Highlight and right-click the USB Serial Port, select Properties, and then the Port Assignments tab.

  4. In the COM Port Number box, note the Com port number the assigned USB Cradle. If it says "in use" or has an extremely high number (past Com 10), then select a COM port that's not in use. We suggest Com 2. If it is already on Com 2, then pick the next appropriate Com port.
For Windows* 2000
  1. Insert the REX 6000 in the USB Cradle, open the Control Panel (Start Button-Settings-Control Panel), and then double-click the System icon.

  2. Select the Hardware tab and click the Device Manager button.

  3. In the Device Manager, locate Ports, and then expand it by clicking the plus (+) sign next to Ports.

  4. Highlight and right-click the USB Serial Port, select Properties, and then the Port Assignments tab.

  5. In the COM Port Number box, note the Com port number the assigned USB Cradle. If it says "in use" or has an extremely high number (past Com 10), then select a COM port that's not in use. Windows 2000 lets you select up to 256 virtual COM ports for a serial device. We would suggest Com 2. If it is already Com 2, pick the next appropriate Com port.
If you are still unable to read the REX6000 in the USB cradle, you may want to uninstall the REX USB Cradle and the REX 6000 software.
