Note: The following steps assume that the Handspring has been setup to HotSync with your Desktop computer. If you have not done this, please refer to the Handspring owner's manual on how to do so.
This information can also be found in the SM56GA's Quick Reference Guide.
Preparing your computer to receive a call from the Handspring Visor/Visor Deluxe:
- On your desktop/laptop PC, click the Hot Sync Manager icon in the Taskbar and select Setup. On an Apple Macintosh, click the Palm Desktop icon and select Hot Sync Manager.
- Click the Modem tab on the Setup screen and verify that the modem information is correct. (If your modem isn't listed, select Hayes Basic and set port the speed). Click OK.
- Click the Hot Sync Manager and select Modem (checking "Modem" on the Hot Sync menu puts the modem into "auto answer" mode. It will answer all calls coming into the phone line to which it is connected). Be sure no other communication software is running.
Preparing your Handspring Visor/Visor Deluxe to call your computer:
- Click the Hot Sync icon, click the Menu icon, and select Modem Sync Prefs on the "Options" menu.
- Select Direct to modem and click OK.
- On the Hot Sync screen, under Modem Sync, click Enter phone #.
- On the Phone Setup screen, type the phone number required to call the modem connected to your desktop or laptop computer. Check additional items as required, and then click OK.
- On the Hot Sync screen, tap Modem Sync. The modem will now call and connect to your host computer and synchronization will occur.
