Note The following steps assume that the Handspring has been setup to HotSync with your Desktop computer. If you have not done this, please refer to the Handspring owner's manual on how to do so.

1. Using your desktop computer, establish an internet connection and browse to www.avantgo.com.*
   
   
2. Click on Sign Me Up.
   
   
3. Click on New Users Click Here.
   
   
4. Select Palm Computing and click Next.
   
   
5. Click on the Click Here To Download button and save the file to your desktop. Once the file is downloaded, click Next. You will now run the file that you have just downloaded.
   
   
6. Go to your desktop and double-click on the file you just downloaded. Now, an install window will pop up.
   
   
7. Click Next, read the license agreement, and then click Yes.
   
   
8. Click Next on the following screen.
   
   
9. Have the radio button set to Typical, and then click Next.
   
   
10. Windows will begin to install some files to the hard drive. Click OK to complete the installation.
    
    
11. Leave your internet connection active. Place the Handspring in its cradle, and press the HotSync button.
    
    
12. After the Handspring has completed the sync, press the Next button on your web browser if prompted.
    
    
13. Complete the next page with your personal information and click on I Accept.
    
    
14. On the next page click on Click Here To Configure. Another setup window will pop-up.
    1. Click Next.
    2. Choose the correct user with Palm Device to it's left and click Next.
    3. On the following screen click Next.
    4. You should get a new window stating "Mobile Link auto detection was successful."
    5. Click Done and then click Finish.
15. In your web browser, click Next.
    
    
16. Place the Handspring in the docking station again and press the HotSync button.
    
    
17. Upon completion of the sync, press Next.
    
    
18. The next screen on your browser will have the options to add channels, edit accounts, or finish. If you want to add channels click on Add Channels. Browse through the list of available channels. To select a channel, click on the plus sign to the left of the channel name. When you have made all your selections, press the HotSync button. If you do not want to add more channels, then click Finish. Disconnect from your ISP.
    
    
19. When ready, remove the Handspring Visor from the docking station. Insert the Springport Modem 56 GlobalAccess (SM56GA) into the expansion slot. You will be asked to select the proper "Country" setting. Do so and click Done. Use your dialer and connect to your ISP. If you haven't setup a connection to your ISP yet, see the instructions in the Quick Reference Guide for your SM56GA. Look under "Connect to your Internet Service Provider (ISP)."
    
    
20. Upon successful connection to the ISP, click the Home button on the Handspring.
    
    
21. Click the AvantGo icon.
    
    
22. You can now use AvantGo to either browse your channels or surf the web. To surf the web, click the Menu button. Under the Channels drop down menu, select Open Page. Type in the URL of the page you would like to see then click OK. The page you typed in should come up. Please note that because of the limitations of the Palm OS, you may not be able to view the content of all web sites.
