Configure a Remote Networking Dial-Up Connection

To configure a remote networking dial-up connection for computers running Windows* CE and Xircom® Compact Flash Modem, follow the steps below:

  1. Select "Start" --> "Programs" --> "Communications."

  2. Select "Remote Networking," and then double-click "New Connection."

  3. Enter a name for the connection, click "Dial-Up Connection," and then click "Next."

  4. Select the appropriate modem from the drop down list.

  5. Click "Configure."
    Note: If you are using TCPIP, click TCPIP settings and set the appropriate parameters.

  6. Once the modem and TCPIP settings are selected, click "Next."

  7. Enter the country, area code and phone number. Choose "Force long distance" or "Force local," if desired (this is not required).

  8. Click "Finish."

  9. To dial, double-click the newly created icon.

To enter an alternate initialization string, follow the steps below:

  1. Click the desired connection icon.

  2. Select "File" --> "Properties" --> "Configure."

  3. Click the Manual Dial checkbox.

  4. Click the "Call Options" tab.

  5. Enter the desired initialization string in the "Extra Settings" field.
