The Xircom®
PortGear USB to serial converters allow many standard serial
devices to be connected via the USB ports. We have tested a
number of specific serial devices for compatibility. The only
known devices that will not function through the USB to serial
converters are:
- Visioneer PaperPort Scanners
- LapLink
serial cables.
- Any
Serial Device that does not use Windows API
Xircom is now shipping Microsoft* Windows* 95 OSR2.1 or higher, Windows* 98, Windows* 2000 and Windows* Me drivers for all PortGear single-port USB to serial converters:
PortGear USB to 9 Pin Serial (PGSDB9 or CON-USB-S9) - This product uses a DB-9 (PC style) serial connector and is primarily designed for Windows. Windows driver support is provided with this product.
PortGear USB to 25 Pin Serial (PGSDB25 or CON-USB-S25) - This product uses the DB25 (modem style) serial connector. Windows driver support is provided with this product.
PortGear USB to DIN 8 Mac Serial (PGMSD8 or CON-USB-D8) - This product uses a DIN-8 (Mac style) serial connector and is primarily designed for Apple MacOS*. It is not supported in the Windows/PC environment.
PortGear 4 Port Multifunction Hub (PGMHUB4, PGFHUB02 or HUB-2U1S1P) - This is a multifunction hub with 2 USB ports, one DB-9 serial port and one parallel printer port. Windows driver support is provided with this product.
