Symptom(s): While installing the VTune™ Performance Analyzer, you may encounter the error message:
Error 1324. The path .;C: contains an invalid character.
Cause:
This condition can be caused by installing the Intel® Trace Analyzer prior to installing the VTune Performance Analyzer. The Trace Analyzer installation program modifies the INTEL_LICENSE_FILE environment variable and adds another directory to it. This environment variable controls where the Intel tools look for their license files. Many other Intel tool installation programs do not expect more than one directory in this variable.
Solution:
To work around this problem, follow these steps:
- Move all license files (*.lic) from the directory specified by the first entry in the INTEL_LICENSE_FILE variable, typically, C:\Program Files\Intel\Trace Analyzer, to the directory specified by the second entry, typically, C:\Program Files\Common Files\Intel\Licenses.
- Manually remove the first entry from INTEL_LICENSE_FILE variable. The variable should contain only one directory.
This known problem may be addressed in a future release of the Trace Analyzer or the VTune Performance Analyzer.
