Problem: The Network connection is slow, unreliable, or not made.
Cause: The built-in Windows* 2000 drivers require that the Cable Type keyword be set properly.
Resolution: Xircom® drivers are not available for the Xircom® CreditCard Ethernet II Adapter in Windows 2000. However, drivers for these cards are included with Windows 2000. These built-in drivers are not supported by Xircom.
The Cable Type setting in these built-in drivers is "Auto" by default. It is some times necessary to set this Cable Type to Twisted Pair or Coax, whichever is appropriate. These are primarily used on machines with an Intel® Pentium® III class (or faster) processor.
Note: Xircom does not plan to write new drivers for these cards for Windows 2000.
Problem: A Xircom® network adapter functions when plugged directly into a cable modem/DSL router. The network adapter does not work when an ethernet hub is put between it and the router, meaning the router is connected to the hub and the Xircom network card is connected to the hub via standard CAT 5 cables.
Cause: Some cable modem/DSL Routers do not have an uplink port.
Resolution: Use a crossover cable between cable modem/DSL router and ethernet hub.
