The Intel® PRO/1000 family of Desktop Adapters ship with Intel® Boot Agent support enabled - ready to use out of the box. On Intel® Server adapters you must enable the Intel Boot Agent using the Intel® Ethernet Connections Boot Utility.
The Intel® Ethernet Connections Boot Utility is included on the CD, or you can download the utility.
The following Intel® PRO/1000 Server Adapters support Intel Boot Agent:
- Intel® PRO/1000 XT Server Adapter
- Intel® PRO/1000 T Server Adapter
- Intel® PRO/1000 MT Server Adapter
- Intel® PRO/1000 MT Dual Port Server Adapter
- Intel® PRO/1000 MT Quad Port Server Adapter
- Intel® PRO/1000 GT Dual Port Server Adapter
- Intel® PRO/1000 PT Server Adapter
- Intel® PRO/1000 PT Dual Port Server Adapter
- Intel® PRO/1000 PT Quad Port Server Adapter
- Intel® PRO/1000 PT Quad Port LP Server Adapter
Additional Information
- Enable the Intel Boot Agent using the Intel® Ethernet Connections Boot Utility, BOOTUTIL.EXE, with the command line prompt, "BOOTUTIL -NIC=X -FE"
- The Intel® PRO/1000 MT Quad Port Server Adapter only uses the Boot Agent on the top two ports.
- The Intel® PRO/1000 T Server and Intel® PRO/1000 F Server Adapters do not support Intel® Boot Agent. No flash chip is available for the empty socket.
- Windows* RIS installs using Intel gigabit adapters require Microsoft* patches to their RIS software. Please see Microsoft article Q315074.
