Twisted Pair cable categories supported by Intel® Ethernet Connections
This table describes the minimum Unshielded Twisted Pair* (UTP) & Shielded Twisted Pair (STP) cable Category (CAT) specifications required to connect at a given speed. It also lists the recommended Twisted Pair cable category and other categories supported by Intel® Ethernet Adapters and LAN on Motherboards (LOM) connections that use RJ45 connectors.
Mbps = Megabits per second (1,000,000 bits/sec) Gbps = Gigabits per second (1,000,000,000 bits/sec)
