Symptom(s): This article only applies to systems based on Intel® Itanium® processor systems running Windows Server* 2003 with Intel® PROSet software version 11.1 or earlier. Systems running Intel PROSet software version 11.2 or later are not affected.
If the latest Intel PROSet software is not installed when applying the operating system hot fix, VLANs and adapter teams are disabled as indicated by a "yellow bang", error 37 in the device manager.
Cause: At the time of publication, this issue was associated with applying the hotfix associated with Microsoft* Knowledge Base Article 924897*. Microsoft could issue a newer hotfix and article in the future, which replaces the referenced article. The issue is also known to apply to earlier versions of the hotfix that are no longer published by Microsoft.
Identify your version of Intel PROSet software by:
- Opening Windows Device Manager
- Double clicking the Intel® Network Adapter
- Selecting the "Link Speed" tab in the adapter properties.
- Read the version number from near the top of the "Link Speed" Window as shown in figure 1.

Solution: Upgrading to Intel PROSet software version 11.2 or later resolves this issue.
