Intel supports retail versions of Intel® Ethernet adapters. These adapters are usually purchased separately and added into a computer. Sometimes you might buy a computer with a retail adapter added in by the builder. Either way you are supported by Intel if you are the original purchaser of a new retail network adapter.
Most computers come with built-in network connections. The built-in network connections are supported by the original equipment manufacturer (OEM). Built-in network connections usually have device names that include the words "Network Connection. An Intel® 82579V Gigabit Ethernet PHY Network Connection is one example.
If the network connection is built into another Intel product such as a server board or desktop board, then those network connections are supported by Intel.
Some add-in adapters are OEM versions that are supported by the OEM. These adapters might be custom or generic versions, which are usually installed by the OEM when you purchase the computer.
Contact your manufacturer for support, drivers, and software if you have an OEM product.

Use drivers and software from your computer manufacturer
The drivers your computer manufacturer provides are validated to work with your system. Your computer manufacturer might have customized the drivers and software to enable features or provide improved operation on your computer. Using generic drivers can impact your computer warranty and limit support from your manufacturer.
