Tested compatible.
Microsoft Windows* For Workgroups (NDIS) EtherExpress 16 Family
Windows for Workgroups is shipping. Microsoft* is bundling the
EtherExpress 16 card (BNC version) in a starter kit. Drivers for
the EtherExpress 16 card are included on the Windows for Workgroups
disks, but there is a newer driver on our disk. Use this newer driver
if you are using the EtherExpress 16 or FlashC card.
Note
LANSight Express's User.com will NOT work with Windows for
Workgroups on a Novell Network SNMP Services will not work with Windows for Workgroups on a Novell
Network
Windows for Workgroups Servers do not support remote booting other
workstations.
Microsoft* Windows For Workgroups (NDIS) EtherExpress 32 Adapter
Ethernet EISA bus-mastering NICs are now supported for Windows for
Workgroups 3.11. The EtherExpress 32 Adapter appears to work well
with WFW 3.11 as long as the AUI connector is used and you do not have
AMI BIOS. Using the BNC connector can result with WFW 3.11 hanging on
the opening screen or the system hanging when trying to connect or
disconnect to another workstation. AMI BIOS will send you to the DOS
prompt when trying to connect to another workstation. This problem has
been reported to Microsoft who is responsible for this driver, but we do
not have a date for when an updated driver will be available.
Windows NT* (NDIS) EtherExpress 16 Family
Windows NT* includes a driver, written by Microsoft, for the
EtherExpress 16 Family of Adapters. This driver does not support
the EtherExpress 16 MCA or MCA TP cards. It has been certified by
Microsoft to work with the EtherExpress 16 ISA Adapters. It has not
been certified by Microsoft to work with the EtherExpress MCA Adapters,
but it may work.
Microsoft Windows NT* (NDIS) EtherExpress 32 Adapter
Windows NT* includes a NE3200 driver which has been tested and will be
supported by Microsoft. Based on a customer report, the NE3200 driver
with the EtherExpress 32 card works with Windows NT.
Next Nextstep* EtherExpress 16 Family
Next is shipping a driver for the EtherExpress 16 and 16TP cards
with NextStep. This driver will not work with the EtherExpress MCA, MCA
TP, 16C or FlashC cards. Next is planning to update the driver in Q3/Q4
of 1993 to support the 16C and FlashC cards.
Next Nextstep EtherExpress 32 Adapter
Not compatible.
Novell Netware* 4.X Server (NATIVE) EtherExpress Family
Intel has worked with Novell to develop drivers for the EtherExpress
16 Family of Adapters and the EtherExpress 32 cards. There is a Novell
Certified workstation driver (ODI) available through Intel's online
services for the EtherExpress 16 Family of Adapters in the EtherExpress
Network Adapter Download/Update section in a file called E16DISK.EXE.
These drivers are included with the v4.0 software.
Novell Netware* 3.11 Server (NATIVE) EtherExpress Family

Netware* 2.1X Server (NATIVE) EtherExpress Family
Tested compatible.
Netware* DOS WKST (ODI) EtherExpress FAMILIY
Tested compatible.
Netware* OS/2 WKST (ODI) EtherExpress 16 Family
OS/2 2.0 requires the latest version of the NetWare* Requester. This is
available from Novell or NetWire.
Netware* LITE V1.0, 1.1 (IPX) EtherExpress Family
Novell recommends using an ODI driver with NetWare Lite*, but if you
have a way to generate an IPX, it will work in client workstations.
Netware* LITE V1.0, 1.1 (ODI) EtherExpress Family
Tested compatible.
LAN Workplace For DOS V4.0 (ODI) EtherExpress Family
LAN Workplace for DOS v4.0 is compatible with the EtherExpress 16
and 32 cards but has not been tested with the EtherExpress MCA, MCA TP,
16C, Flash, FlashTP and FlashC cards.
Netware* SFTIII MSL EtherExpress Family
MSL or mirrored Server link is the link that allows for the SFT III
mirrored Servers feature. Novell recommends that a 100-MB/s fiber optic
card be used to run a fiber cable between the primary Server and the
mirrored backup Server. It is used to synchronize operations between
the 2 Servers.
Using any 10MB/s Ethernet card to provide the mirrored link is not
recommended.
Retix EtherExpress Family
The EtherExpress 16 Family of Adapters have not been tested with the
Retix Network Operating System. Based on customer reports the
EtherExpress 16 card works with Retix.
