EtherExpress 16/16TP adapters

Intel is no longer supporting this environment. Intel has only tested the EtherExpress Family with this operating system in the fall of 1991. Intel has not done any testing since. The current cards and NDIS drivers should work, but Intel is not actively supporting this environment.

These cards are not compatible with 3COM 3+Open 1.1F network operating system.

This driver was shipped on the EtherExpress 16 card diskettes with the Software P/Ns 303844-001 through -010. It is not included on any disks after this. It is NOT available through Intel's online services. The driver does not support the EtherExpress MCA, MCA TP, 16C, Flash, FlashTP, FlashC, or the newer style EtherExpress 16 and 16TP cards.

Tested Compatible.

The LANtastic AI v4.1/v5.0 drivers for the EtherExpress 16 Family of Adapters (EtherExpress 16, 16TP, MCA, MCA TP, 16C, Flash, FlashTP, and

FlashC cards) file E16DISK.EXE is available through Intel's online services.

Support for the drivers is provided by Artisoft. Artisoft will be including the driver for the EtherExpress 16 Family of Adapters (except MCA and MCA TP cards) for LANtastic AI v5.0 in the 5.0 box later this year.

Based on a customer report, the NE3200 driver supplied with this version of LANtastic works with the EtherExpress 32 card, but Intel has not tested this configuration.

Tested compatible.

The NE3200 driver with LANtastic v4.1 does not work with the EtherExpress Family.

Not compatible.

EtherExpress 16/16TP adapters

Banyan Vines 5.50 native driver for the EtherExpress 16 and 16TP cards comes as a part of the Banyan Vines 5.5 Operating System.

The compatibility of Banyan Vines 5.50 native driver and the EtherExpress MCA and MCA TP cards is unknown.

Banyan Vines 5.50 native driver does not work with the EtherExpress 16C or FlashC cards.

Banyan Vines* 5.0 DOS wkst (NDIS) should work with the EtherExpress cards, but it has not been tested by Intel.

Customer reports that when running an EtherExpress 16 card in a Banyan 5.5 workstation using our NDIS driver that the computer runs extremely slow with DOS 6.0 but worked fine with DOS 5.0.

EtherExpress 16 Family

There is a "site specific" patch available for v4.11 of Banyan Vines. This is available from Banyan via your local Banyan Support Representative. The patch for v4.11 is available from the Banyan BBS with the name 4115EE1.ZIP. The official support from Banyan is for the EtherExpress 16 card (PCLA8110). Customers with EtherExpress 16TP cards can get support from Banyan by requesting EtherExpress LAN Adapter support.

Banyan Vines v4.11 has not been tested with the MCA cards.

The EtherExpress 16C, Flash, FlashTP, and FlashC cards are not supported with the Native driver.

Banyan Vines v4.11 DOS wkst (NDIS) should work using NE3200 adapter driver. These configurations have not been confirmed by Intel.

EtherExpress 16/16TP/16C/Flash/FlashTP/FlashC adapters

Based on customer reports, the EtherExpress 16, 16TP, 16C, Flash, FLashTP, and FlashC cards work in this configuration, but Intel has not offically tested these cards with Pathworks. Be sure to use the newest NDIS driver, v2.24, available through Intel's online services.

EtherExpress MCA/MCA TP adapters

DEC Pathworks has not been tested with the EtherExpress MCA cards.

FTP PC/TCP v2.05 kernal PC-210 is compatible with the EtherExpress 16, 16TP, 16C, Flash, FlashTP, and FlashC cards but has not been tested on the EtherExpress MCA or MCA TP cards.

General NoFTP PC/TCP v2.05 with the generic kernal PC-210 can use either the NDIS driver or the packet driver. Based on a customer report Patch level 4 adds ODI support.

The EtherExpress 32 card works only with the NDIS driver and has not been tested by Intel with the ODI or Packet Drivers.

Based on customer reports, the EtherExpress 16 Family of adapters and the EtherExpress 32 card work with the PC/TCP OS/2 wkst NDIS driver, but this configuration has not been tested by Intel.

EtherExpress 16/16TP adapters

Hayes has confirmed that the EtherExpress 16 cards work with release 2.0 of LANSTEP.

The Hayes LANSTEP 2.0 has not been tested with the EtherExpress MCA, MCA TP, 16C, or FlashC cards.

The EtherExpress 16 adapter driver is included with the IBM's LAN Server 4.0 The EtherExpress 32 driver is included with the IBM's LAN Server 4.0

LAN Server 3.0 will work with the EtherExpress FlashC card if the flash/boot rom on the card is disabled.

EtherExpress 16/16TP/16C/Flash/FlashTP/FlashC adapters

Based on customer reports the EtherExpress 16, 16TP, 16C, Flash, FlashTP, and FlashC cards work in this configuration, but Intel has not offically tested these cards with LAN Server 2.0.

The EtherExpress MCA and MCA TP cards have not been tested with LAN Server 2.0.

EtherExpress 16/16TP

Customer reports that using the NDIS driver with this software worked fine as long as the AUTOEXEC.BAT included: IPXNDIS, NETBIND, LATNDIS and NETX.

These drivers have not been tested with the EtherExpress MCA, MCA TP, 16C, Flash, FlashTP or FlashC cards.
