Modem In CBEM/RBEM/R2BEM Is Unable To Make a Connection Under Windows* Me

Modem In CBEM/RBEM/R2BEM Is Unable To Make a Connection Under Windows* Me When LAN Cable Is Disconnected.

This is usually caused by overlapping I/O addresses in the operating system which force the card to require a live Ethernet connection for the modem to function.

Xircom and Microsoft have identified an incompatibility with Microsoft Windows Me (Millennium Edition) and Xircom CardBus Ethernet 10/100+Modem 56 (CBEM56G-100), RealPort CardBus Ethernet 10/100+Modem 56 (RBEM56G-100), and RealPort2 CardBus Ethernet 10/100+Modem 56 (R2BEM56G-100) PC Cards. The incompatibility occurs when attempting a connection with the modem.

A possible workaround is to disable the network portion of the card. Consult the Windows Help Section to find out more information on hardware profiles. This may allow you to use the modem.

This configuration is offered as a work-around. Xircom does not support the cards listed here under Windows Me.

This applies to:
Xircom® CardBus Ethernet 10/100+Modem 56 GlobalACCESS Adapter (CBEM56G-100)
Xircom® RealPort™ CardBus Ethernet 10/100+Modem 56 GlobalACCESS Adapter (RBEM56G-100)
Xircom® RealPort2™ CardBus Ethernet 10/100+Modem 56 GlobalACCESS Adapter (R2BEM56G)
