MACsec (802.1AE) offload with Intel® Ethernet Adapters

What is MACsec offload?

MACsec offload describes the ability of some Intel® Ethernet Adapters to handle MACsec encryption onboard, instead of using the system CPU.  This feature reduces the overhead of MACsec on the associated networked device.

What is required to enable MACsec offload?
You will need the following to enable MACsec offload on your Intel® Ethernet Adapter:

  1. Intel® Ethernet software that enables MACsec offload (version 15.6 or later)
  2. A suported Intel® Ethernet adapter or connection with MACsec offload enabled
  3. Cisco AnyConnect* supplicant
