Intel® iSCSI Remote Boot Overview:
iSCSI uses your existing Ethernet infrastructure to connect to remote storage units using the SCSI protocol encapsulated in standard TCP/IP packets. Intel iSCSI Remote Boot enables PCI Express*-based server adapters to boot from a remote iSCSI disk volume located on an iSCSI-based Storage Area Network (SAN).
Intel iSCSI Remote Boot Download:
The ISBoot.exe download allows you to install the Intel iSCSI Remote Boot FLASH ROM image on your PCI Express*-based Server Adapters. With the Intel iSCSI Remote Boot ROM image enabled and configured the Network Adapter will be able to connect to a bootable iSCSI target, pre-Operating System. This is ideal for diskless workstations and servers.
NOTE: Using the iSCSIUtil.exe to update your adapter's FLASH ROM will over write your existing PXE/RPL boot ROM image. You can remove the iSCSI image by re-flashing your Network Adapter using IBAUTIL.exe in the PROBOOT.exe download.
