Solution:
The Intel® PRO/100 M Desktop Adapter is designed for use with modern computers that are equipped with a PCI bus that is compliant to the PCI 2.2 specification. Computers that are compliant to the PCI 2.2 specification will supply standby power through the PCI bus, so the 3-pin cable is not needed.
The Intel PRO/100 M Desktop Adapter will work in the older PCI 2.1 compliant computers, but it will not support Remote Wake-up from a fully powered down (S5) state in those computers.
