Intel® PRO/1000 T IP Storage Adapter
Do not install release 2.20 in Windows* Server 2003!

The most current release of the Intel® PRO/1000 T IP Storage adapter software, release 3.0 (30IPStorage.exe) is the only software release for the Intel PRO/1000 T IP Storage adapter that is tested and certified with use in Windows* Server 2003.

The older release 2.20 (220IPStorage.exe) is still available as a convenience for users that have standardized on that release, or that need support for Red Hat Linux* 7.2. Please do not install this older version on Windows Server 2003. It was released prior to the release of Windows Server 2003 and was not tested in that operating system. Experiments have shown that installing release 2.20 in Windows Server 2003 may work, but it may make it difficult or impossible to upgrade to newer releases without re-installing the OS.

If you need to upgrade the firmware on the adapter prior to installing release 3.0 in Windows Server 2003, please follow the DOS-based "failsafe" method described in the release 3.0 user guide.

In general, we recommend using only the certified version of release 3.0. There is a slightly modified version of 3.0 that is not certified in the download 30IPSpecial.exe. This version contains a work-around for devices that require support for SCSI AutoSense data that exceeds the SCSI AutoSense buffer limits imposed by Windows.

Some devices, such as some model tape drives, have relied on AutoSense data larger then the limit imposed by Windows to function properly. This work-around should only be used in conjunction with devices requiring this specific behavior; all others should use the official WHQL certified driver.

Operating System:
Windows Server 2003*, Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition*
