In certain client/server combinations, the attempt to install a client system with an Intel® PRO/1000 GT Desktop Adapter using Microsoft* Remote Installation Services may fail during the text mode portion of Windows* setup with the following error message:
"The operating system image you selected does not contain the necessary drivers for your network adapter. Try selecting a different operating system image. If the problem persists, contact your administrator. Setup cannot continue. Press any key to exit."This error may show despite the fact that the selected image contains the latest driver for the Intel PRO/1000 GT Desktop Adapter.
There are three possible causes:
- The network boot image (Intel Boot Agent) on your Intel PRO/1000 GT Desktop Adapter maybe out of date.
- The client image may contain an older driver that does not recognize the Intel PRO/1000 GT Desktop Adapter.
- This maybe a problem in the Microsoft operating system, as described in Microsoft knowledge base article 823658.
Please ensure that you update the Intel Boot Agent on your network card to the newest version. This can be downloaded at:
Your image must contain the latest drivers. Download the latest drivers for the Intel® PRO/1000 GT Desktop Adapter.
If updating the Intel® Boot Agent on your adapter and adding the latest drivers to your image does not resolve the problem, please visit Microsoft's support Web site and browse to the following KB article:
