Intel® PRO/1000 Gigabit Server Adapter
Installation Tips for NetWare* Client 32 for DOS

Driver name: CE1000.LAN       Location on CD-ROM: \NWSERVER

The Intel® PRO/1000 Gigabit Server adapter has been certified in the Client32 for DOS environment. This file contains suggestions for using this driver as a client driver.

Note: Your Client software must be upgraded to latest 32-bit Client files available. These files can be obtained from Novell*.

If multiple PRO/1000 Gigabit Server adapters are installed in a client, then the default number of Rx Descriptors, Tx Descriptors, and Coalesce Buffers may be set too large depending on the amount of system memory in the client. If the driver fails to load on the client, and the "*** Packet Receive Buffers setting is too low. ***" error message is displayed, then reduce the default values on the load line using the following two card example:

    load ce1000 slot=x frame=ethernet_802.2 rxdescriptors=32
        txdescriptors=32 coalescebuffers=32

    load ce1000 slot=x frame=ethernet_802.3 rxdescriptors=32
        txdescriptors=32 coalescebuffers=32

    load ce1000 slot=y frame=ethernet_802.2 rxdescriptors=32
        txdescriptors=32 coalescebuffers=32

    load ce1000 slot=y frame=ethernet_802.3 rxdescriptors=32
        txdescriptors=32 coalescebuffers=32

This example assumes two adapters in the client residing in PCI slots x and y. Each adapter is being loaded with two frame types, Ethernet 802.2 and 802.3.
