Print Server not showing

Symptom:
The NetportExpress XL/PRO print server is correctly connected to the network and link lights are showing activity, but it is not showing up in NetPort® Manager.

Description:
The workstation is not configured correctly. NetPort Manager requires NetBIOS over NetBEUI in order to discover the NetportExpress print server.

Solution:
Go to the Control Panel, then Networks (ALT-Double click Network Neighborhood), and check the protocols.

If NetBEUI is not installed:

  1. Install NetBEUI from the NetBEUI Properties section.
  2. On the Advanced tab, select the Set this protocol to be the default protocol option.
  3. Restart Windows* 95.

If NetBEUI is installed:

  1. Select Properties.
  2. On the Advanced tab Select the Set this protocol to be the default protocol option.
  3. Restart Windows* 95.

If the NetportExpress™ print servers are still not showing up, and the Dial Up Adapter is installed, unbind NetBEUI from the Dial Up Adapter and restart Windows* 95.

This applies to:
Intel® NetportExpress™ PRO and PRO/100 Print Servers
