There are a number of system names. Please see the list below and the lengths these names can be:
Storage system name:
Can be up to 15 characters long and can include letters, numbers, and hyphens.
Administrator name:
The Administrator name can be up to 15 characters long.
Windows/Mac OS X user (CIFS):
The user name can be up to 15 characters* long and can include letters and numbers.
Linux/Other Mac user (NFS):
Linux/Other Mac user's (NFS) names are designated by the computer description or computer name of the person’s computer and the IP address or computer.
The Computer description can be the name of the person who typically uses the computer, or any other description that you want to provide to identify the computer in the Users list. This description can be up to 15 characters long.
Note:
This applies to the Intel® Entry Storage System SS4000-E firmware version 1.2, username lengths in earlier releases may be shorter. Username lengths were increased in firmware version 1.2 for additional security measures.
* The Intel® Entry Storage System SS4000-E User Guide indicates the user name can be up to 20 characters. This is incorrect, the user name can be up to 15 characters and can include letters and numbers.
