The Intel® Server RAID Controller U3-1L is an Ultra160 LVD (Low Voltage Differential) SCSI, single-channel controller that supports a burst data transfer rate of up to 160MBs per second. This RAID controllers hardware supports two different software/firmware architectures.
This web site has been divided into two sections to simplify locating the architecture desired for your controller.
Use the links below to determine which configuration you are using to find out more information.
NOTE: The two RAID architectures are NOT compatible with one another.
If you choose to upgrade your controller to the new Intel RAID architecture, you will need to completely back up your data to another source and reinstall your operating system. The steps to perform an upgrade to the new architecture are detailed here.

The legacy RAID architecture for this controller can be identified if any of the following apply:
- At boot-up the firmware version for the RAID adapter is displayed in an x.yy.014 format. (e.g. "RAID Controller Firmware Version v4.19.014")
- The Raid management application in the operating system is accessed via a web browser. (See picture above)

The New RAID architecture for this controller can be identified if any of the following apply:
- At boot-up the firmware version for the RAID adapter is displayed in an x.yy.xx-A123 format. (e.g. "Firmware-FW-Version 2.32.00 - R016 - Mar 14 2002")
- The Raid management application in the operating system is either a text-based menu driven User Interface (UI) or for Windows* Operating Systems, a true Graphical User Interface (GUI) is also available. (Both the UI and GUI interfaces are pictured above)
