IntelŪ Entry Server Board SE7210TP1-E
System Event Log Is Reported As Full

Intel® Entry Server Board SE7210TP1-E and Intel® Entry Server Platform SR1325TP1-E contains a baseboard management controller. This controller closely monitors operation of the server, and will log System Events as they occur in the System Event Log. Actions such as re-booting or powering on the server will result in System Events. The System Event Log at some point will become full, and the server during POST (Power-On Self Test) will report the System Event Log as being full. Once the System Event Log is full, the log will need to be cleared.

The following steps are provided to help reduce the occurrence of "System Event Log Full" message during POST.

  • Server board must have the latest BIOS revision. It is also important to update the Boot Block at the same time. Refer to the BIOS Release Notes for instructions on updating the boot block.
  • Server board must have the latest FRU/SDR firmware revision.
  • Do not use the Server Configuration Wizard provided with the Intel® Express Installer CD to configure your chassis. The CD contains an older FRU/SDR revision, and will downgrade the revision when the wizard completes programming. Use the latest FRU/SDR revision to configure your chassis.
  • Connect the Chassis Intrusion cable from the chassis to the Chassis Intrusion header on the server board.
  • Make sure the chassis cover is closed before powering-on or resetting the server.

The information provided above will help reduce the number of events logged, however this will not eliminate all events. Noting that each time the server is powered-on or reset, there are System Event Log entries made. It is estimated that with the actions above you should be able to reset the server 10-12 times before completely filling the System Event Log.

Clearing the System Event Log:
