If you encounter an error message on POST pertaining to the system processor, one way to eliminate it is to do a processor retest. Normally, once a processor is marked failed, the BIOS will mark the slot as "failed" and will be disabled. To enable it back, the processor retest switch should be enabled.
Processor retest can be done by accessing the BIOS setup utility. Typically it is found in the "Main" menu, "Processor Settings" submenu.
