The stated flash and cache capacity for the Intel® RAID SSD Cache Controllers RCS25ZB040 and RCS25ZB040LX is 256 GB and 1 TB respectively.
Of this total capacity, about 25 percent is held in reserve as over-provisioned capacity to extend the usable life of the product. This free space is used when flash cells reach end of life. Actual, useable flash and cache capacity, is about 200 GB and 800 GB.
When using the default, optimum controller setting of RAID 1 for the Nytro Flash modules:
- The virtual disk capacity reports as half the total flash and cache capacity.
- For the Intel RAID SSD Cache Controllers RCS25ZB04 controller, the virtual disk capacity is about 92.5 GB.
- For the Intel RAID SSD Cache Controllers RCS25ZB040LX controller, the virtual disk capacity is about 370 GB.
