Hotswap Controller Firmware update failed with Error 005


Knowledgebase Article

A firmware update may fail, and display "error 005". Try each step in order.

  1. Disconnect the SES cable
  2. Confirm that the IPMB cable is connected properly between the first Intel® Hot Swap Expander Controller and the server board.
  3. Disconnect the hard drives
  4. Remove any RAID controller cards
