Symptom(s):
Knowledgebase Article
During the initial setup of Microsoft ™ Windows Server 2008 at the page " Where do you want to install Windows?" I can see all the available disks (i.e. the RAID volumes created in RAID BIOS Console) but there is an error saying: " Windows cannot be installed to this disk. (Show details)".
The installation of the operating system cannot be completed even if I create a new partition and click Next.

Below is the screenshot showing the details of the error.

Cause:
This is the normal expected behaviour and occurs when the RAID BIOS is disabled in the properties of the controller.
Solution:
You can see if the RAID BIOS is disabled during POST when the RAID is initialised.

To resolve this problem procede as follows:
- Enter the RAID BIOS Console [CTRL+G] and select Controller Properties.
- Click Next and on the Properties page and identify the Controller BIOS setting

- Change the Controller BIOS setting from Disabled to Enabled.
- Click Submit to save the changes. Exit RAID BIOS console and proceed with the installation of Windows operating system.
