Unable to Load RAID Drivers on Server System from Compatible USB FDD

Problem:
Windows* Server 2003 is not detecting USB Floppy Drive even though seen in the BIOS. TriedáBIOS optionsá"Floppy" and "Force FDD".

Environment
Intel® Server Board S5000VSA with BIOS version 96 (2/12/2009)
SMART Floppy Disk Drive (with a Mitsumi chipset)
Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2

Issue resolution
Follow these steps to install the RAID driver via USB Floppy Disk Drive:

  1. Connect USB Floppy Disk Drive.
  2. Connect standard USB flash drive.
  3. Enter BIOS and set both USB Floppy Disk Drive and USB Floppy Drive to "Force FDD". Go to BIOS > Advanced > USB configuration.
  4. Follow the regular operating system deployment and now Windows Server* 2003 should find the RAID driver on mounted USB Floppy Drive.
