When installing the Intel® Memory Module AXXMINIDIMM512 into an Intel® server system, you may see an error similar to
“Firmware is in fault mode” “Error 0190H…”
You should check whether the minidimm was manufactured by Micron*. In this case, the error does not indicate that the DIMM itself is faulty. Earlier versions of the firmware for this midplane did not support the Micron part. A firmware update will resolve this issue. Please follow the firmware update instructions below.
How to identify whether you have a Micron* part:
Locate the barcode label on the minidimm. The part number is on the top left.
 The affected part has a part number of MT9HTF6472PKY.
How to update the firmware on the active midplane 2
- Download firmware package from http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=17968&lang=eng
- Extract firmware package to usb stick
- Remove minidimm and raid key
- Boot the server to efi, with the usb stick present
- Go to the usb stick: fs0:
- Go to the folder where you extracted the package: cd <foldername>
- Run the following command: falsasmp2upd.nsh
- Once all the updates are finished, shut the server down, remove power, reinstall the raid key and minidimm, and boot to check it works.
