Newly added hard drive not recognized in operating system

Symptom(s):
When the onboard disk controller is configured as software RAID using Intel® Embedded Server RAID Technology II (ESRTII), and a new hard drive is connected to the server, the newly added hard drive is not recognized in the operating system.

Cause:
Intel® Embedded Server RAID Technology II does not support JBOD mode. To use a single standalone hard drive, create a RAID 0 virtual drive consist of the hard drive.

Solution:
Add a RAID 0 virtual drive consist of the newly added hard drive using the Intel® ESRTII BIOS Configuration Utility or Intel® RAID Web Console 2. For more details, please refer to the Intel® RAID software user's guide.
