IPMI driver may cause system fans to spin up in Microsoft* Windows* Server 2008

It has been reported that in some instances system fans will spin up when Microsoft* Windows* Server 2008 is installed on a server containing an Intel® S5000 family server board. This is due to a potential conflict between the native Microsoft* Windows* IPMI driver and the Intel® IPMI driver.

To work around this issue, please disable BMC Plug & Play Detection in the board BIOS -> SERVER MANAGER > PLUG & PLAY BMC DETECTION.

Intel is working to fix this issue in a future BIOS or IPMI driver release.

Operating System:
Windows Server 2008*, Windows Server 2008 Standard*, Windows Server 2008 Standard x64*, Windows Server 2008 Enterprise*, Windows Server 2008 Enterprise x64*

This applies to:
Intel® Server Board S5000PAL
Intel® Server Board S5000PSL
Intel® Server Board S5000VSA
