Special instructions for installing dual Storage Control Modules

The MPIO driver requires additional steps for dual Storage Control Module (SCM) functionality.

Windows 2008 Small Business Server (SBS) may have Automatic Short File Name Generation disabled. If the mpio.sys driver fails to install with the error:

For more detail refer to MPIO install.LOG located under C/programs files X86/ Intel Storage controller.
It is recommended to restart the system and try to reinstall the program again.

or Device Manager shows four instances of "Intel Multi-Flex SCSI Disk":

  1. Shut down the OS
  2. Remove the second SCM
  3. Reboot the Compute Module
  4. Run regedit
  5. Open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem
  6. If NtfsDisable8dot3NameCreation exists, set the value to 0
  7. If NtfsDisable8dot3NameCreation does not exist, create and set the value to 0
  8. Install the MPIO driver
  9. Install the second SCM

Drivers for using dual SCM in Red Hat* Enterprise Linux are in progress.  This page will be updated with instructions for those OSes once their driver packages are complete.
