Cannot Log in to CMM

The reset button on the CMM is intended for rebooting, and does not reset to factory defaults.

If you have received a replacement midplane through warranty, need to change a forgotten IP address, reset to factory defaults, or reload corrupted firmware:

  • First, connect a straight-through serial cable to the CMM serial port, and set your terminal program (like Hyperterminal) to:

    • Baud rate: 115200
    • Data Bits: 8
    • Parity: None
    • Stop Bits: 1
    • Flow Control: None

  • Next, remove and reinsert the CMM. Press Enter during boot to bring up the EBF> prompt.

To disable DHCP and reset the IP address to default, type:

CMM EBF > set net ext dhcp off
CMM EBF > set net ext ip
CMM EBF > set net ext netmask
CMM EBF > set net ext gateway

To reset the admin password, type:

CMM EBF > set admin password [password]

Type "exit" to reboot the CMM.

If you see an error during the EBF boot similar to:

SD Card not present or failed to initialize
Unable to obtain flash device parameters

The CMM may need to be reset or formatted.

Emergency Firmware Recovery Instructions (PDF)

If you see the boot process, but cannot get the EBF prompt, please note that the serial cable or USB to serial cable must be a fully populated straight through cable. Specifically, it must allow the host PC to assert the CTS pin on the CMM.
