Only the highest number Ethernet port is used for RAID remote management with the Intel® RAID Web Console 2.
If there is more than one active ethernet connection in a RAID server being managed, access to the RAID information is only available on the highest number NIC interface. Only clients on the same subnet as the highest number NIC will be able to remotely manage the RAID server via Intel RAID Web Console 2. For RAID servers who will be remotely managed using Intel RAID Web Console 2, please make sure to use the highest number enabled NIC to connect to the monitoring client.
If you experience a problem managing RAID with the Intel® RAID Web Console 2 and Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2008*, the following steps are required to enable Intel® RAID Web Console 2 to function properly.
- Connect the network cable to the highest number Ethernet port before installing Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2008*.
- Once Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2008* installation has completed, run command ipconfig and verify Local Area Connection 2 is functioning while Local Area Connection is disconnected.
- Disable the network card of Local Area Connection in Device Manager of Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2008*.
- Run command ipconfig again. Now Local Area connection should disappear.
- Intel® RAID Web Console 2 should now function properly.
