Utilizing a USB Floppy to Install an Operating System

Symptom(s):
When adding a driver by pressing F6 and using a USB floppy drive, the device driver loads initially, but after the first reboot during the install the floppy drive is no longer recognized by the system and the driver fails to load.

Cause:
The initial DOS USB floppy driver used is not available after the first reboot. Configuring the USB floppy to work in USB 1.1 mode allows an available driver to be used.

Solution:
Have the USB floppy connected when the system is started.

In the system BIOS:

Devices > USB > USB 2.0 Controller set to Disabled

Press F10 to Save settings
Reboot

Operating System:
Windows XP Professional x64 Edition*, Windows Server 2003 Standard x64 Edition*, Windows Server 2003 Enterprise x64 Edition*, Windows 2000 *, Windows XP Professional*, Windows Server 2003 *, Windows 2000 Server*, Windows 2000 Advanced Server*, Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition*, Windows XP 64-Bit Edition Version 2003*
