Teaming Using the On-board IntelŽ 82541P1 and On-board Marvell* 88E8050

The Intel® 82541P1 On-Board LAN and Marvell* 88e8050 Ethernet on board Ethernet Controller on Intel® Server Board SE7520BD2 can be teamed together using the functionality of Intel® PROSet which is now integrated with the Windows* Device Manager.

Note Teaming is a feature of the Intel® Advanced Network Services (ANS) component that lets you to take advantage of multiple adapters in the system by grouping them together.

  1. Install Windows* Server 2003, configure both on-board NICs properly using the latest on-board Lan driver.
  2. Intel® PROSet for Windows* Device Manager is an extension to the Windows Device Manager. It can be installed from the Product CD with the same process used to install drivers. You can select Intel PROSet for Windows Device Manager and Advanced Network Services from the Install Options dialog.
  3. Before creating a team, make sure each adapter is configured similarly. Check each adapter's settings in Intel PROSet. Settings to check include QoS Packet Tagging, Jumbo Frames, and the various offloads. If team members implement Advanced features differently, the team will align the settings with the least capable adapter.
