Some common things to check if the system was not able to identify or use the installed memory.
- 3 Beeps emitted by the system means defective memory, replace the defective memory.
- Check if the system memory used is on the compatibility list.
- Is there a processor installed on the channel where the memory is installed ? The memory slots associated with a given processor are unavailable if the given processor socket is not populated.
- Is memory RAS enabled ? If it is enabled, then only the active memory can be used by the operating system.
- Are RDIMMs and UDIMMs both installed in the system ? Mixing DIMM types are not supported.
If the issue still exists, check the system event log for specific errors pertaining to memory.
