Can I have failover Compute Modules?
The Compute Modules operate independently of each other. Failover can be configured in the application or operating system, as with other rack or pedestal servers.
Is it possible to remotely re-start the MFSYS25?
Only the individual compute modules can be restarted remotely, not the entire chassis.
What kind of UPS should I use?
Although we have not done formal testing, the UPS must support a 3720W load, and have four (4) NEMA 5-15 outlets. Ethernet/SNMP management is recommended.
Where do I set my power domains redundancy settings?
Power domains are no longer necessary with the system
Is there a power distribution board?
All components, including the power subsystem, plug directly into midplane.
Do the power supplies have a specific order?
The bays are independent. You may move a module from one bay to another as a valid troubleshooting step.
Why isn't there a firmware update for the power supply?
The power supplies do not have firmware, although active fan bays do.
What is a "fan blank"?
You must populate all four slots with either a power supply or an active fan, sometimes referred to as a "fan blank".
Is there any single point of failure? How is this mitigated?
The CMM is the only non-redundant component. The system is designed to continue operating regardless of the state of the CMM.
If I lose the CMM, will I lose my configuration?
No, the configuration information is stored on a flash card on the midplane
If the midplane fails, will I lose configuration information?
No, you can move the flash card to your replacement midplane
Is it possible to save and manually restore the configuration?
The CMM configuration is automatically backed up at each firmware update. Click on 
in the management GUI for additional information. There are additional steps if you cannot log in to the CMM
Will next-generation platforms be supported on the MFSYS25?
Absolutely. The Intel® Modular Server System was specifically designed with this in mind.
Can two MFSYS25 units share resources?
Although this feature has been investigated, it has not yet been implemented
There are serial ports on the Switch, SCM and CMM modules. Which one do I log in to?
The serial ports are for engineering and manufacturing use only.
